Symptoms Of Debt

Symptoms of debt are not always easy to spot.  In many cases, there is not just one symptom.  Instead, a number of smaller problems have built up causing difficulties that, because they do not happen in one go, are hardly noticed until it is too late.  Whatever the problem is, your quality of life suffers if you do not have enough money to live to a reasonable standard.

Some people may take the view that ‘I got myself into this problem, I will get myself out of it’ or ‘if I tighten the belt, I will be able to get through this’.  Both attitudes are commendable, however the question is when does a short-term problem become long-term difficulties?

At some point you will look at your finances and decide that you cannot carry on like this.  What may have begun as a ‘blip’ quickly becomes the norm and you deal with it.  Other ‘blips’ occur over a period of time bringing you to your current situation.  You need to take a step back and look at your finances.

What to look out for.

  • Two weeks before payday, you only have enough money to last one week
  • You are seeing more and more late charges or over limit charges each month on your credit cards, store cards & loan statements
  • Looking at your Bank Statement, you have less in your Bank account than you did this time last year
  • Looking at your Credit Card Statements, do you owe more than you did twelve months ago
  • Your car is not serviced as regularly as it should– this alone could result in a large bill should your vehicle break down
  • You cannot afford to replace damaged or worn out household goods without something else not being paid or using credit

These examples relate to identification of your current situation, there can be numerous contributing factors which got you to this position in the first place.  If we can help, you will quickly be in the position where you are able to live reasonably.  Your quality of life will stabilise and you will not have to focus on ‘just paying the bills’.

The first thing to do is to look objectively at your finances.  If you imagine a line which represents ‘reasonable spending’, along this line there is always a degree of drift one way or another.  People will prioritize their expenditure differently, what is essential to one person may be something another person does not give a second thought about.  As long as your spending is not excessive, you feel your finances are reasonable and sustainable, but you do not have enough income to pay all of your bills over the course of a month, then we may be able to help you.

Simply give us call on 0800 093 2285. It will take a few minutes to assess your situation and see if we can help.  If we can, within days we could be dealing with all of your unsecured Creditors. All conversations and correspondence can be dealt with by us, leaving you time to live.  We will ensure that you have a fair and reasonable amount to live on, allowing you to focus on regaining your quality of life, rather than living from payday to payday and from bill to bill.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or any other debt secured on it
